Most foreign visitors do not need visas for stays of less than 30 days. Three-month visas can be obtained in advance and cost around USD 35.

Tax

A 12% VAT tax applies to all food, shopping and hotel purchases in the Philippines. In addition, a ___% local government tax applies to purchases in the City of Zambales.

Tipping

A service charge of 10% is usually added to hotel and restaurant bills. If not, a 10% tip is appropriate for waiters.

Dress

A lightweight t-shirt and shorts or jeans are appropriate for daily wear. Light jackets or windbreakers are good to have during rain storms or on occasional cool period.
For formal occasions, men wear coat and tie or a traditional Barong Tagalog, tailored slacks and leather shoes. Women often wear cocktail dresses with a light shawl.
